CD Based on the “Issa” Legend Released
Award-winning author (The
Swords of Faith) Richard Warren Field’s CD “Issa Music” features East-meets-West mystic jazz inspired by the “Legend of Issa.”
This legend strongly implies that Jesus journeyed to India and studied Buddhism and Hinduism before his world-changing spiritual mission in Roman-occupied Judea, meaning West and East could be spiritually connected in ways not generally considered. “Issa Music” celebrates this idea with a blend of Eastern and Western modes and timbres. Field offers the music to serve as background to meditation, or to discover the layers of sound designed into it (or just to enjoy).
“I loved the freedom involved as I created this music,” Field says. “The only rule I followed was to create instrumental music that is adventurous and unique, but at the same time accessible to both Eastern and Western sensibilities. I work in everything from Western tonal harmonic scales to more exotic modes, some filled with augmented seconds.”
The music is electronic, but with sounds of conventional instruments predominating. “The technology allowed me to combine Western instrumental sounds, like the flute and the piano, with Eastern woodwinds and pitched drums. I explored different combinations of these sounds—I went where the music took me.” This has Field offering selections as diverse as the melodic “River of Flow” with a driving 5/4 rhythm and a flute carrying the melody, contrasted by “Eastern Boogie,” with strings pulsing an exotic sounding ditty, complete with an Ocarina solo. “In both ‘East Meets West,’ and ‘West Meets East,’ I start with big Western orchestral themes, then wind them out into Eastern Jam sessions.
If you listen closely, you can hear the same theme, but placed in a completely different musical setting!” Field's website will offer listeners a complete recording of a different “Issa Music” track each month.

1.Kung Tone relates to Earth Qi.
The beginning melody is played by a ceramic earthen ware Xuan, which corresponds to characteristics of Earth. It maintains the stability of Qi within the body.
2.Shang Tone relates to Metal Qi.
The music starts with metalic sounds of the luo (gong) and pieng-chung (bells). It helps to induce the Qi inside the body.
3.Chueh Tone relates to Wood Qi.
Which is expressed by the di (bamboo flute) leading the melody. It helps to release excessive Qi inside the body.
4. Jyy Tone relates to Fire Qi.
The lively sonorous sound of Sona (Chinese trumpet) creates an atmosphere full of the characteristics of 'Fire'. It helps to enhance the Qi in the body.
5. Yu Tone relates to Water Qi.
Whose characteristic is most fully displayed in the guqin and guzheng. It helps to descend the Qi inside the body.

Regimen-Chi (Qi) Circulation` is an abridged version of all five albums. The main purpose is to accelerate the flow of Qi circulation throughout all the organ-systems in the physical body.
The acoustic effects of these five kinds of music in their five different tones moderates the movement of Chi in the body in response to the release of Wood Chi the rise of Fire Chi the stability of Earth Chi the induction of Metal Chi and the descent of Water Chi.
The viscera they act on are the liver, heart, spleen, lungs and kidneys.
Their actions on the viscera and the Chi mechanism result in improved psychological condition and activated emotional function.
These in turn will regulate the functions of the viscera themselves.
This is where the theory of Healing Music with Five Tones lies.
On this basis specific therapeutic music is prescribed to particular pathological condition
Five Tone Healing Music is also based on the theory of that the five cosmic tones of Chinese music correspond to the five organs (systems) in the human body.
It helps to regulate the circulation of `Qi` or `Life Force` in the body.
The `Five Tones` series emphasizes the five modes and instrumentation.
The five modes are based on the five tones; the instrumentation is arranged according to the characteristics of the five modes.
The resonant frequencies of certain modes stimulate the flow and circulation of `Qi` in certain parts of the body.
Musically different from the Yi-Ching Music for Health of the southern style, the Five Tones Healing Music presents the musical style of northern China.
It provides an alternative for health conscious individuals.

"Guttural singing is better known as throat singing or diphonic singing. In guttural singing the singer is able to produce two and sometimes three different sounds at the same time using his or her throat in a particular way. Guttural singing is found mainly among herdsmen tribes whose history was influenced by contact with languages of Turkic and Mongol origins. It is quite probable that it spread because of the Mongol invasions, although its real origin is unknown. Some suggest that the guttural nature of Turkic languages allowed for the creation of this type of singing, while some believe that it is of Mongolian origin. The Tuvans have developed five different styles of throat singing, while there are regional styles from the various different people who have developed it. "
